YIT’S CAPITAL MARKETS DAY: YIT INCREASES SERVICES FOR HOUSEHOLDS

Today, June 6, 2006, YIT organized a Capital Markets Day in Helsinki aimed at investors and analysts. At the event, Group CEO Hannu Leinonen and other members of YIT’s management presented examples of the implementation of the company’s strategy.

YIT’s strategic objective is to increase the relative share of revenue accounted for by consumer services and long-term service agreements.
The share of revenue accounted for by consumer services was 27 per cent in January-March, while long-term service agreements generated 27 per cent and project development and contracting 46 per cent.

Housing and leisure-time solutions for households

Residential construction in Russia is being beefed up by extending operations to new cities. Construction will begin in the city of Kazan during 2007. YIT will build a total of 1,000 residential units on a plot that it has acquired.

Residential construction remains stable in Finland. The most sizeable residential and business premises project in central Helsinki in coming years will be the old Konepaja area. Construction will start in June. YIT will gradually build a total of about 1,300 residential units in the area.

Construction of about 250 housing units will start in Helsinki in the autumn on the Merenkulkijanranta waterfront on Lauttasaari island. The latest notable plot acquisition has been made in Länsi-Pasila. About 250 housing units will be built in the area bordered by Helsinki’s Central Park between 2007 and 2010.

As part of its plan to increase consumer services, YIT is building leisure-time residences and service facilities all around Finland. The first of YIT’s leisure-time residences have been completed in Ylläs, and new sites are coming in places such as Saariselkä, Tahko, Himos and Rokua.

Long-term service agreements for building equipment systems and industry increase

The profitability of Building Systems has been improved by increasing the share of revenue accounted for by the maintenance and servicing business. At the end of March, this business accounted for 62 per cent of revenue, compared to 56 per cent the previous year.

YIT Industrial and Network Services has made numerous maintenance and operation agreements with Finnish industrial companies. Since the beginning of the year, for example, maintenance of Metsä-Botnia’s Kaskinen and Kemi mills was transferred to Oy Botnia Mill Service Ab, an industrial maintenance and plant service company jointly owned by Metsä-Botnia and YIT.
