YIT BEGINS CONSTRUCTION ON THE RATINANKAARI ENERGYGENIUS OFFICE BUILDING IN TAMPERE, FINLAND

YIT will in July begin construction on the Ratinankaari office and commercial building, worth approximately EUR 35 million, in the Ratina area of Tampere city centre, Finland. The two office buildings, partly linked to each other, will have a total of 11,000 m² of office premises. The part of the premises completed first will be ready for occupancy in winter 2013. Located in the crossing of Hatanpään Valtatie and Tampereen Valtatie roads, Ratinankaari has excellent traffic connections. It is to be built as part of a ready urban structure and will supplement the range of office space currently available in southern Tampere.

“The demand for office premises in Tampere has picked up, and we are responding to the increasing customer demand for high-quality premises by building Ratinankaari. Ratina is one of the best locations for offices in Tampere, and the area is also developing with regard to housing and services,” says Regional Director Ilkka Kääriäinen of YIT’s Construction Services Finland.

The Ratinankaari office and commercial building will be implemented in accordance with YIT’s EnergyGenius concept. The design of the premises takes into account the energy efficiency of structures and solutions, and the building systems and equipment selected will allow the future users of Ratinankaari to reduce their energy consumption.

“Excellent energy efficiency will allow us to build office premises that meet the demands of sustainable development and customer requirements. The attractiveness and value of energy-efficient and modern office premises, flexible for modifications, will also be maintained in the future,” says Matti Joensuu, Property Development Manager at YIT.

YIT is also in the process of constructing two high-rise residential buildings in the Ratina area. The housing companies Tampereen Ratinan Kapteeni and Horisontti will have a total of 120 apartments completed by summer 2012.
