YIT’s new apartment buildings to feature Smartpost lockers
YIT provides its customers with a growing number of services that make daily life easier. Smartpost lockers are a good example of this trend. With the inclusion of food deliveries from Kauppahalli24, the service makes online grocery shopping a convenient option for consumers.
YIT and Posti have launched an extensive Smartpost locker partnership. Going forward, Smartpost lockers will be installed in all YIT’s new apartment buildings, where possible.
The first housing company to have the lockers installed was As Oy Loimu in Espoo’s Tuomarila district at the beginning of June, followed in late June by the adjacent buildings As Oy Tuike and As Oy Kajo. The plan is to install the lockers at approximately 20 apartment buildings next year to serve nearly 2,000 customers across Finland.
The Smartpost lockers are located on an apartment building’s own premises and they are available to residents around the clock. The lockers can be used for receiving e-commerce deliveries. Parcels and other items purchased from online retailers are delivered to locked cabinets. The addressee then receives a notice of the item’s delivery by text message, including a code for opening the locker. This means customers can have their items delivered to their own building and pick up the items when it is convenient for them. Smartpost lockers also have cabinets for outbound parcels, letters and postcards.
A newly introduced service makes it possible to order groceries from Kauppahalli24 and have them delivered to a Smartpost locker. The grocery bags are delivered in coolers to ensure an unbroken cold chain. The lockers can also be used for services, such as laundry, recycling and small device repair.
“Smartpost lockers provide people with greater flexibility in their time management by allowing them to pick up their groceries from the lobby of their apartment building on their way home,” says Hanna-Kaisa Risku, Sales and Marketing Director at Kauppahalli24.
“The construction industry is undergoing a major transition, and this can be seen in the development of housing construction in the direction of a housing business operations model. At the same time, there is growing demand for services that make everyday life easier. We want to respond to this need by constantly looking for new business models, services, concepts and products that support convenience in daily life and housing. The continuously developed and expanded Smartpost locker service is an excellent example of this,” says Pekka Helin, Senior Vice President in charge of the Living Services development programme at YIT.
