The circular economy brick won the Finland Chamber of Commerce's Sustainability Deed of the Year award
YIT Corporation Press release October 21, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.
In July–September, YIT Talon Tekniikka has won six pipe renovation contracts in the Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa region in Finland. The total value of the contracts is approximately EUR 23 million and, in all, the facilities of 497 apartments will be renovated. Some projects are already underway and the rest will commence in the coming months.
A so-called traditional pipe renovation will be completed at all properties, which means that all technical building systems will be renewed and wet rooms renovated. In addition, the housing companies’ common facilities will be updated. Depending on the size of the building, the used technology and the scope of the renovation, pipe renovation projects usually last 8–16 months.
Selecting a contractor before planning the implementation of the renovation has become common in housing companies’ renovation projects. Sampo Kautto, CEO at YIT Talon Tekniikka, finds this development commendable. “This way, cost estimates and the compatibility of plans can be ensured in a timely and reliable manner. Project implementation is smoother and, according to feedback, progresses in good spirits.”
Executing pipe renovations is possible even with the challenges created by COVID-19. The key is to follow hygiene-related instructions carefully and keep social distancing in mind.
“During the renovation, residents of housing companies live elsewhere so there is no risk of infection between the residents and the site staff. Housing company meetings, information sessions for residents and site meetings can be held with remote connections,” confirms Kautto.
