YIT WILL CONTINUE THE TECHNICAL ADMINISTRATION FOR THE KAROLINSKA UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL AREA IN SOLNA, SWEDEN
YIT Sverige AB has signed an agreement with Locum AB regarding technical administration for the Karolinska University Hospital area in Solna, Sweden. The agreement concerns, among other things, the supervision, upkeep, corrective maintenance, fault reporting, emergency duty and service for tenants, and also covers buildings and infrastructure within an area of approximately 390,000 square meters.
YIT will be providing services for heating, ventilation, cooling, control and regulation, high and low voltage, backup power, medical gases, sterilization technology, lifts, pneumatic tubes, etc. YIT also has an operations centre in the hospital area that is staffed around the clock and monitors all fields of technology in the hospital area.
"Locum chose YIT due to their good evaluation ratings in, among other things, quality management and development, organization and competence, as well as work with energy optimization," says Marie Boestad, property manager at Locum. "For Locum, it's important that the contractor focuses on high operational reliability so as to ensure that the highly specialized care that is provided at the university hospital is not affected by disturbances."
Locum procures all property services under competitive forms in the open market.
In this way, the quality of the services are defined to comply with the needs of Locum and health and medical care, while at the same time, cost levels are attained that are based on conditions in the market.
"Competitive procurement gives Locum continued good cost control combined with a focus on safety and energy savings," says Marie Boestad.
The terms of the agreement are five years with the option of extending the agreement two years at a time. It will go into effect for buildings on July 1, 2010 and on April 1, 2011 for infrastructure.
Since 2002, YIT Sverige AB has had a corresponding agreement with Locum AB and maintained an established operational organisation with a staff of about 50 at the Karolinska University Hospital area in Solna.
