YIT, Sito and the City of Lahti have signed an agreement to build a new bus and freight terminal to Lahti through an alliance model. The total value of the project for YIT is roughly EUR 15 million, and it is due for completion in autumn 2015. The long-haul bus terminal together with a freight terminal will be built next to the Lahti railway station. Special attention has been paid to cyclists and pedestrians, and 200 sheltered bicycle parking places will be built. YIT has been involved as a party in the alliance also during the development phase of the project, which has included preparatory work such as arrangements for public transport.
“We are delighted to be involved in developing new, more efficient implementation models for the construction industry. Of these, the alliance model is the newest and emphasises most the co-operation between parties. The alliance model enables flexible co-operation and efficient exploitation of the strengths of the different parties”, explains Jarkko Salmenoja, Vice President at YIT Infra Services.
