The circular economy brick won the Finland Chamber of Commerce's Sustainability Deed of the Year award
YIT Corporation Press release 29 November 2024 at 12:30 p.m.
YIT and TA-Asumisoikeus Oy have signed a contract of Asumisoikeus Oy Jyväskylän Hahlo 3 and 7 in the Tourula district of Jyväskylä, in an area surrounding a former rifle factory. The construction will begin in December 2024 and the project will be completed in early 2026. The value of the contract to YIT is more than EUR 11 million and it will be recorded in the order book of the last quarter of the year.
The scope of the contract is approximately 3,500 square metres of floor space, with the property housing a total of 47 apartments. The project encompasses two residential buildings: a two-storey semi-detached house and an apartment building consisting of four- and five-storey sections, connected by a two-storey part. In addition, the project includes a parking facility.
“This interesting project is an excellent example of a new type of urban living. As a form of housing, the right-of-occupancy housing makes for flexible accommodation, allowing room for dreams and offering security for the future. The location of the area is great; close to the city centre, all the amenities and excellent transport connections, so you do not even need a car as you can easily manage without one in Pajala in Tourula,” says Markku Vartiainen, Regional Director of TA-Asumisoikeus Oy.
"The construction of the Tourula’s Pajala district began last year, and I am glad that we can now start the next project in the new city centre that is emerging in Jyväskylä. Both residential and business spaces have been zoned for the area. I would also like to say how happy I am about our long-term collaboration with TA-Asumisoikeus, which now continues with this new project,” says Marjaana Nissilä-Ryytty, YIT’s Regional Director.
Among other things, meadows will be created in the yard areas in Tourula's Pajala district to provide habitats for insects and trees will be planted to attract birds. The district's beautiful culturally and historically valuable environment with its protected buildings and the high-quality shared yard areas have been designated as car-free zones. Thanks to Pajala’s excellent pedestrian and cycling routes and public transport connections, a car is not required in day-to-day living. The diverse services of the city centre and the Seppälä district are also within walking distance of the district. The area of the former rifle factory has been designated as a nationally valuable built environment.
