YIT supplies BMW’s Leipzig plant with building technology

YIT delivers to car manufacturer BMW the installation of the ventilation and air-conditioning systems at a factory it is expanding in Leipzig. YIT will be responsible for assembling the ventilation and air-conditioning systems for a new building on the factory grounds. Ten machines, each with a capacity of 150,000 m³/h, and a further eight devices delivering just under 8,200 m³/h, will be installed in the hall for a combined airflow volume of approximately 1.4 million m³/h. KRANTZ KOMPONENTEN diffusers and exhaust fans will ensure the appropriate air distribution.

YIT was also contracted to install ventilation and air-conditioning systems in a further production hall. Twelve machines, including two ceiling devices will supply the individual hall sections with the correct air volume.

The short construction period, tight building site logistics, and installation at heights of up to 17 metres, makes the challenging. Aiming to obtain LEED certification for both of the new buildings, BMW is also having heat recovery systems and other equipment installed.

Based on building technology and facility management at the Leipzig factory business relationship between BMW and YIT dates back to 2004.
