YIT’s Paving segment has signed a subcontract with Mostotrest-servis to renovate the national M1 highway (from Moscow to Minsk, Belarus) south of the city called Gagarin.
YIT will renovate two parts of the M1 highway, a total of 15 kilometres. Work will start in April 2018 and will last until October 2019. The project will require approximately 90,000 tonnes of asphalt mixture. The total value of the contract is approximately EUR 11.5 million and it will be entered in the order backlog for the first quarter of the year.
In total 450 kilometres long, the four-lane M1 highway connects the largest western industrial centres of Russia to the border countries. The highway is used 24/7 in transporting a great number of loads and passengers. The M1 is a part of the European route E30 road network and the Pan-European Berlin-Nizhny-Novgorod transport corridor.
YIT has twenty years of experience in constructing and renovating roads as well as renovating paving in Russia. YIT regularly conducts road construction projects in Moscow and St. Petersburg. These projects include renovating public streets and roads as well as repairing and renovating highways M-2, M-4, M-11, A-108 and other major roads. Furthermore, YIT is an expert in paving bridges and tunnels and protecting the sites from moisture. YIT has renovated more than 300 bridges in Russia.
