YIT Corporation Press release 17 September 2024 at 13:00 p.m.
University-educated professionals in the field of engineering ranked YIT as the most attractive employer in the construction industry in the Universum Professionals Survey for the fifth consecutive year. According to the Universum Student Survey published in May, YIT was the most attractive employer in the construction industry for the sixth consecutive year.
YIT was ranked as the most attractive construction industry employer among students and university-educated professionals in the field of technology also this year. YIT improved its ranking in the Universum Professionals Survey in the rankings for the entire technology sector, rising to 17th place. A total of about 8,600 people responded to the survey, around 1,900 of whom were engineering professionals.
"We are very proud that for many years now engineering professionals and students have selected YIT as the most attractive employer in the construction industry. The key to YIT’s success is our skilled and versatile employees. With its focus on understanding our customers' needs and offering professional growth opportunities, our goal-oriented, development-focused culture creates a foundation for shared successes and inspiring career paths,” said Jennie Stenbom, EVP, People and Culture.
YIT offers its professionals groundbreaking projects and diverse development opportunities. As an alliance partner, we are involved in the construction of Prysmian tower in Kirkkonummi, which will house a production facility for high-voltage submarine cables. With a height of 185 metres, the tower is the tallest building in Finland. Kruunuvuorensilta, which will connect Helsinki's Korkeasaari and Kruunuvuorenranta, is also being built as an alliance project and will become Finland's longest and tallest bridge with the longest span. Our sustainability expertise is in a substantial role in the construction of Finland’s first circular economy block in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki. This communal residential block will be designed, built and used in line with the concept of circular economy. The historically notable Aleksanterinkatu 13 property, located in the centre of Helsinki, has been renovated into modern business, office and meeting spaces in accordance with the principles of circular economy. The project achieved a high recycling rate of about 88%.
Our YIT Path trainee programme will help more young people grow into construction sector professionals and provide students in the industry with a systematic path for increasing their practical experience as they progress in their studies. YIT will provide summer jobs and internships for about 350 young people this year. Of those who completed our trainee feedback survey this summer, 99% indicated that they wish to continue working at YIT and 94% enjoyed being part of their team and were willing to recommend YIT as an employer to their acquaintances.
