New high-quality homes in Niemenranta – YIT launched the construction of a residential apartment building in Tampere
YIT Corporation Press release 26 October 2022 at 01:00 p.m.
Professionals in the field of engineering ranked YIT as the most attractive employer in the construction industry in the Universum Professionals Survey for the third consecutive year. According to the Universum Student Survey published in May, YIT was the most attractive employer in the construction industry for the fourth consecutive year.
YIT continues to be the most attractive employer for both university-educated professionals and students in the construction industry. Engineering skills and reliable professionals are part of YIT’s strategic core competence that builds sustainable success and future innovation.
“We are proud of our engineering competence and our experts. With our strong team mindset, uncompromised level of quality, ability to solve complex challenges and insight into our customers’ needs, we can pull off even the most challenging projects,” says Markku Moilanen, President and CEO of YIT.
YIT has diverse, challenging projects underway in various parts of Finland, offering professionals unique career opportunities and skills development.
The Jokeri Light Rail project in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, implemented as alliance contracting, will start operating in 2024. By 2027, the Crown Bridges project in Helsinki will have covered the construction of a tramway, several bridges, renewal and construction of street infrastructure, shoreline construction and water works as well as the repairs of sewers, water pipelines, electric cables and telecommunications cables.
YIT is building a total of eight schools and day care centres in Espoo. The first four projects, three schools and one day care centre, have been completed. The rest of the schools and day care centres will be completed in 2023. In West Pasila, Helsinki, YIT is renovating the Maistraatinportti property that will be converted into a modern multi-user office building by the autumn of 2023.
In the Niemenranta area development project in Tampere, YIT has been building apartments since 2011 and has now entered the third and final planning phase. The major project has enabled the professionals to develop their personal competence and engage in continuous learning in line with YIT’s strategy.
The sustainability of the construction industry is an important engineering challenge for YIT. We create solutions that stand the test of time and ensure a better tomorrow for future generations.
“YIT wants to be the paragon of sustainability in the construction industry. We are one of the first businesses in the industry to commit to Science Based Targets (SBTi). In our projects, we use state-of-the-art, low-carbon materials, increase recycling at our sites and implement climate-neutral energy solutions. We are also committed to ensuring safety and well-being at our workplaces,” says Markku Moilanen.
In addition to focusing on the professional growth of its personnel and an inspiring working community, YIT operates the YIT Path trainee programme to inspire young people to join the construction industry. This year, YIT provided summer jobs and internships for about 530 young people in Finland. Of those who completed our trainee feedback survey in the summer, 99% were willing to recommend YIT as an employer to their acquaintances and 95% felt safe in their working environment.
A total of approximately 9,400 people responded to the Universum Professionals Survey, about 1,750 of whom were engineering professionals.
