The circular economy brick won the Finland Chamber of Commerce's Sustainability Deed of the Year award
YIT CORPORATION Press release, October 3, 2017, 09:00
YIT is deploying the KONE Residential Flow solution in a residential building in the former paper mill area of Kangas, Jyväskylä. The solution makes residents’ movement within their building easier by giving them the chance to operate the building’s outer doors, lifts and apartment intercoms with their smartphones.
“There is growing demand for services that make everyday life easier. We wish to respond to this need, and we are happy to be able to do so in co-operation with KONE. Digitalisation has strongly impacted the construction industry. We are glad to state that the customer is the one who benefits from this the most,” says Pekka Helin, Senior Vice President of the Living Services development programme at YIT.
The KONE Residential Flow solution, recently launched by KONE and designed for residential buildings, creates new ease of living for the residents, owners and maintainers of the property. The solution is based on mobile and cloud technology and piloted in five other European countries in addition to Finland.
When designing the KONE Residential Flow solution, KONE interviewed more than 200 property maintenance professionals, developers and residents in order to understand the challenges and needs of easy mobility.
“It is a great honour for us to have YIT select our solution to integrate the doors and lifts of the new residential building in the Jyväskylä area known for its cultural history. Future living will be increasinly digitalised, and I’m glad we get to implement it in co-operation with one of our long-term partners,” says Sami Vesala, Business Director at KONE in Finland.
KONE Residential Flow consists of three packages: KONE Access, KONE Visit and KONE Information. KONE Access automatically opens the front door with the help of a smartphone and orders the lift, preselecting the correct floor. KONE Visit integrates the apartment intercoms with a smartphone. Doors can be opened for visitors even when the resident is not at home. This makes home deliveries, for example, much simpler. The KONE Information package allows property maintenance companies and property managers to send notifications related to the building directly to a resident’s smartphone, the electronic notice board in the lobby or the lift screens.
The KONE Access and Visit packages will be available at YIT’s Kangas site.
Kangas is the most significant area development project in Jyväskylä.
In the future, Kangas will house 2,100 jobs and 5,000 residents. The construction in the area utilises the cultural percentage principle to introduce art to the area.
