YIT improves energy efficiency for Älvsbyn Municipality in Sweden

 Älvsbyn Municipality and Älvsbyns Fastigheter AB have signed an agreement with YIT to improve the energy efficiency of the municipality’s real estate over an area of 100,000 square metres. Energy-efficiency is improved through reducing the energy costs of real estate and developing maintenance.

 YIT will carry out a full review of the energy efficiency of the municipality’s real estate. The review work will be started in the summer of 2012.

 – We want to reach our energy-saving objectives as soon as possible. Energy costs will eat up our entire current budget within ten years if nothing is done. The training of staff included in the project will further improve our competence in the energy efficiency of real estate. Therefore, we have signed an agreement with YIT, a company with significant experience and a good track record in similar projects, says Anders Nilsson, CEO of Älvsbyns Fastigheter AB.

 – We are very proud to be helping in achieving the ambitious energy goals. Through our energy efficiency projects, we can increase savings that will finance operations of the municipality.  YIT has extensive experience in energy efficiency projects, and has recently made similar agreements in Sweden with Mora, Ludvika, Torsby and Kalmar municipalities, among others.
