YIT implemented the first LEED certified logistics building in Finland

Real estate company Tiilitie Logistics East, implemented by YIT, has been granted the international Silver-level LEED for Core and Shell environmental certificate. The 11,800 m2 logistics building was completed last autumn and it is owned by UBS Global Real Estate. The building is one of the two logistics buildings in the Petikko business park in Vantaa, Finland. The total approximate value of the buildings is EUR 40 million.

Tiilitie Logistics East is the first LEED certified logistics building in Finland and also a Nordic pioneer. The main factors for obtaining the certificate include the building's energy efficiency and environmental friendliness and its location along good public connections, as well as the rainwater and service water management solutions.

”UBS Global Real Estate has many years adopted a holistic approach to harmonize financial goals with environmental and social challenges for our investments. The certification of Tiilitie Logistics in Vantaa is another great achievement and important milestone on the way to implement our responsible property investment strategy in our real estate funds,” says Michael Loose, Head of Construction and Development Europe, UBS Real Estate Kapitalanlagegesellschaft mbH.

"We are very happy at being able to provide logistics premises in Finland that meet the requirements of the challenging LEED certificate. Encouraged by this, we want to build our future prime locations in logistics to meet the LEED requirements. Examples include the now completed 17,000 m2 Tiilitie Logistics West and the logistics locations in the Aviapolis area in Vantaa," says Jukka Hanhilahti of YIT logistics construction services.

LEED, i.e. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is a certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC®) with the goal of promoting green construction and making it more effective at the international level so that it is easy to see which locations better account for environmental and health effects.
