The fourth Prisma in Lithuania and the second in the capital city Vilnius was opened to the public today on Friday April 25. The construction work of the shopping centre began in summer 2013. The project for SOK was realised by YIT’s Lithuanian subsidiary YIT Kausta. The total value of the project was EUR 12 million.
This was already the second Prisma shopping centre in Lithuania constructed by YIT Kausta. The location of the new shopping centre is excellent, as approximately 100,000 residents live in its immediate catchment area, and the Vilnius Ring Road, currently under construction, will be completed in the vicinity.
There is approximately 10,000 square metres of sales space in the shopping centre that will host small boutiques in addition to the Prisma supermarket. An underground car park was also constructed in the shopping centre, with spaces for more than 300 cars, and the outside parking area can accommodate an additional 160 cars.
- We chose to co-operate with YIT because the site location was commercially interesting and because YIT has great experience of fulfilling demanding building contracts. The property was finished to a high technical standard and the whole project was implemented according to the planned schedule, says Janne Rytkönen, Property Manager at SOK.
There are 64 Prisma shopping centres of the S Group in Finland, eight in Estonia, five in Latvia, four in Lithuania and 17 in Russia.
In addition to Prismas, YIT Kausta has realised many property development projects in Lithuania. Currently, YIT Kausta is constructing a ‘Solo City’ residential block and completing the ‘Grand Office’ business centre on the plots next to Prisma in Vilnius.
- YIT Kausta has reformed local real estate development operations because we as the project developer take care of all the phases from market analysis to concept implementation and leasing and selling of the property, says YIT Kausta’s CEO Kestutis Vanagas.
