YIT TO CONSTRUCT AVIAPOLIS RING RAILWAY STATION IN VANTAA, FINLAND

YIT Construction Ltd has been selected to implement the interior contract of the Aviapolis railway station, which is part of the Ring Railway project in Vantaa, Finland. The total value of the contract is approximately EUR 37.5 million, and it covers the interior of the Aviapolis railway station and a tunnel section spanning a total of approximately two kilometres. Construction has already begun, and it will last approximately two years.

The Aviapolis station is the first railway station to be built underground in Finland. It will be built 40 metres below ground level.

The Aviapolis station will be built as part of YIT’s internal cooperation between the business areas responsible for business premises and infrastructure construction.

“YIT has extensive experience in the construction of public premises, both business premises and traffic route projects. The Aviapolis station project will allow us to utilise synergies between our three units’ best competencies in the different aspects of the contract,” says Petri Vuokila, Director of the Construction Engineering Unit at YIT Infra Services.

YIT is a significant player in road projects in the Helsinki region. YIT has implemented six different contracts in different phases of the West Metro project, being the largest individual contractor in the project. YIT is also involved in both E18 motorway projects that commenced this year, the motorway between Koskenkylä-Kotka and the Hamina Bypass Road.
