YIT starts construction of part 2B of the Tampere Tram as part of the Tramway Alliance

YIT, as a party to the Tramway Alliance, starts the implementation of the Tampere Tram from Santalahti to Lentävänniemi. On 16 December 2021, the Supreme Administrative Court ruled on the appeal against the filling permit for Näsinsaari and work can start without delay once the related preparations have been completed; estimated to be in February 2022. Näsinsaari will be built on Lake Näsijärvi and connected to the land by bridges. A channel will be built between the island and the shore.

The Tampere tramway phase two will be operated by an alliance of YIT, NRC Group, Sweco and AFRY. The project is a follow-up to the Phase 1 and 2A orders. Work on Part 2A (Pyynikintori-Santalahti) started in 2020 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. The entire Part 2 (Pyynikintori-Lentävänniemi) is scheduled for completion at the end of 2024.

The full value of the Tampere tramway phase two is a total of EUR 112 million, of which YIT's share 2B, which is now starting, is approximately EUR 37 million and it will be included in the order book for the first quarter of the year 2022.
