YIT INSTALLS ENERGY-EFFICIENT BUILDING SYSTEM TEHCNOLOGY AT JOSEPH PSCHORR HAUS BUILDING IN MUNICH, GERMANY
Bayerische Hausbau has commissioned YIT Germany GmbH to install all mechanical systems at the new Joseph Pschorr Haus building in Munich, Germany. The value of the agreement is approximately EUR 8 million and covers heating, cooling, ventilation, sanitation, and sprinklers. The contract is representing yet another successful collaboration in a long line of joint projects between YIT and Bayerische Hausbau.
The building received DGNB Gold pre-certification in 2010. In order to fulfill these high efficiency standards, all measures will be taken to ensure efficient use of the energy required. For instance, YIT is installing systems that prepare the exhaust air in a way that reduces the amount of energy required for cooling the building. These systems work without energy by using filtered rainwater. The cooling will be supported by an additional compression cooling system. A solar panel system will also be installed, which helps to supply electricity, and heat recovery systems to boost energy effectiveness.
Located in the Munich pedestrian zone, the cutting-edge office building will feature ten floors, four of which are underground. Three separate retail units measuring around 19,100 m² are planned for the lower floors, while the top two floors will house 25 upscale apartments. A two-story public parking garage will be located underground with enough space for 214 vehicles. One of the building’s unique features is the delivery station in the lowest floor underground, which is invisible to customers and can be accessed via an elevator for delivery trucks.
An atrium extending to the third floor of the building will be constructed in the center and feature Mediterranean vegetation at the southern end. This “orangery” will provide employees and visitors alike with a lush setting in which to relax and which contributes to DGNB certification as well. YIT will be responsible for watering and climate technology.
