YIT has signed a contract for Sockenplan, a part of the metro extension in Stockholm, Sweden

YIT and the Region Stockholm have agreed on a contract for a part of the metro extension at Sockenplan, Stockholm, Sweden. The construction work will begin in August 2020 and the construction period is approximately 2,5 years. The total value of the project is approximately EUR 40 million, and it will be entered in the order book of the second quarter of the year.

The project is part of a larger extension of the Stockholm metro system. Region Stockholm will expand the metro system with 11 new stations and approximately 22 kilometers of new track tunnels in the coming 10 years. The extension plan covers nearly 30 individual contracts and the value of the total investment plan is approximately EUR 2 billion.

Sockenplan is the southernmost section of the new blue line towards Söderort district connecting the existing Hagsätra line and the new blue line from Södermalm at Sockenplan. The contract comprises foundation works, concrete cut and cover tunnels and rock tunneling.
