Lemminkäinen will build a school campus in Parkano using the PPP model

LEMMINKÄINEN WILL BUILD A SCHOOL CAMPUS IN PARKANO USING THE PPP MODEL

Lemminkäinen will build a school campus in Parkano using the PPP model. The construction will start in April 2017 and be completed in May 2019. The total value of the project is approximately EUR 26 million.

The contract includes the design and construction of the buildings. Lemminkäinen will also be responsible for the buildings’ maintenance, upkeep, user services and basic renovation investments during the service contract for the service period of 20 years. 

The project includes teaching premises for about 400 primary school pupils and 200 lower secondary school pupils, as well as for about 130 upper secondary level students. In addition to the teaching facilities, the building houses a kitchen, cafeteria, exercise facilities and a 300-seat auditorium, as well as other premises. The total gross area of the buildings is 7,880 square metres.  

“The facilities are designed to support the pedagogical principles and objectives of the new curriculum. In addition to adaptability and wide utilisation of smart devices, the design focuses, for example, on encouraging students to develop their expression skills. The space efficiency of the campus is very high, thanks to the shared use of space and versatility of the premises,” says Jarmo Kyösti, Technical Director, City of Parkano.

Lemminkäinen is currently building schools also in Hollola, Kuopio and Karttula using the PPP model. Over the past few years, Lemminkäinen has also completed PPP construction projects in Pudasjärvi, Oulu and Porvoo.
