Lemminkäinen appeals against District Court’s decisions concerning damages related to the asphalt cartel

LEMMINKÄINEN APPEALS AGAINST DISTRICT COURT'S DECISIONS CONCERNING DAMAGES RELATED TO THE ASPHALT CARTEL

Lemminkäinen has decided to appeal against decisions of the District Court of Helsinki concerning damages related to the asphalt cartel to Helsinki Court of Appeal. In Lemminkäinen's opinion, there are some judicial aspects in the decisions of the District Court, where the conclusions of the District Court differs from previous legal practices. Such judicial aspects are related to the questions of prescriptions and value added tax, for example. Lemminkäinen will appeal against all 35 decisions, where the plaintiffs' claims were upheld.

On 28 November 2013, the District Court of Helsinki gave its decisions concerning damages related to the asphalt cartel. Lemminkäinen has published releases of these decisions and their implications on 28 November, 2 December and 20 December 2013 as well as 7 February 2014.

The damages decided by the District Court were recorded in Lemminkäinen's fourth quarter result in 2013. Lemminkäinen paid the damages in January 2014.
