Lemminkäinen to renovate university chemistry department in Joensuu

LEMMINKÄINEN TO RENOVATE UNIVERSITY CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT IN JOENSUU

Lemminkäinen will renovate the Futura building at the Joensuu campus of the University of Eastern Finland. Lemminkäinen will carry out the construction and technical building system work in the project. The value of the contract is EUR 11.3 million. Work has begun and is scheduled for completion in January 2015.

The Futura building currently hosts the university’s Department of Chemistry. As a result of the renovation, facilities for the Department of Education will be added to it. The total floor area of the facilities to be renovated is approximately 9,500 m², and the renovation will be carried out in three phases. The contract includes a new 2,000 m² ventilation machine room, replacing asbestos-containing materials with M1 products, renewal of laboratories with fixtures. Part of the building will also undergo space changes.
