LEMMINKÄINEN TO BUILD A TRAFFIC TUNNEL AND ACCOMPANYING INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE CENTRE OF TURKU
Lemminkäinen and the Turku Municipal Property Corporation have agreed that Lemminkäinen will complete the currently halted Unioninkatu construction project in the centre of Turku. In addition to construction work on Unioninkatu in the Telakkaranta development area, the project comprises a new traffic tunnel and municipal engineering for the area. Work will commence immediately. The tunnel is to be completed on 15 July 2013 and the completion of the entire project is set for 15 October 2013. The parties have agreed not to disclose the contract price.
Located in a central part of Turku, the site is subject to strict noise control criteria, to which Lemminkäinen is committed to adhere.
"The project represents Lemminkäinen's core competence. We use our own equipment and we have skilled workers to carry out the quarrying and tunnel construction work. We strive to complete the task with minimum impact on the environment and nearby residents", comments Mikko Immonen, Regional Director at Lemminkäinen.
