LEMMINKÄINEN AND SKANSKA START CONSTRUCTION ON S GROUP’S NEW LOGISTICS CENTRE IN SIPOO

The consortium formed by Lemminkäinen and Skanska, Freeway, is starting the construction of the S Group's new logistics centre for daily consumer goods in Bastukärr, Sipoo in southern Finland. The construction project's procurement process has progressed over the course of the spring, and the first construction works will be initiated this summer.

The parties have agreed on the first purchases and the initiation of construction. The actual construction contracts will be made separately for each phase of the project. The project is being carried out in five overlapping phases. Lemminkäinen and Skanska have equal shares in the consortium.

The logistics centre will have a gross surface area of around 189,000 square metres and a capacity of around 3,400,000 cubic metres. The logistics centre features energy-efficient engineering and will apply for BREEAM certification. The new logistics centre will be fully inaugurated in 2018.

In November 2012, Freeway, the consortium between Lemminkäinen and Skanska, signed a preliminary contract with S-ryhmän logistiikkakeskukset Oy (S Group's logistics centres) for the construction of a new logistics centre to be implemented under a project management contract.
