Lemminkäinen to build apartment building in the centre of Kaukajärvi

LEMMINKÄINEN TO BUILD APARTMENT BUILDING IN THE CENTRE OF KAUKAJÄRVI

Lemminkäinen will build an eight-storey apartment building in the centre of Kaukajärvi, a suburb of Tampere. The new block, called As Oy Tampereen Neilikka, will have 37 residences and one business facility. The total floor space will be 2,341 m². Construction work at the site has already begun and will be completed by the end of February 2013. The apartments and business premises will be offered for rent.

On 5 March 2012, Lemminkäinen sold the entire capital stock of As Oy Tampereen Neilikka to Kaukajärviosuuskunta Cooperative. On the same occasion, Lemminkäinen also sold 25 parking shares in Tampereen Seponparkki to Kaukajärviosuuskunta, which will likewise be rented out. The parties have agreed not to disclose the transaction price.

Kaukajärviosuuskunta specialises in facility management and real estate services. The transaction will strengthen the cooperative's rental business, which currently accounts for 15% of its turnover.

Lemminkäinen's strategic aim is to increase the share of operations accounted for by real estate development to over 50 per cent of the Building Construction sector's net sales by the end of 2013 (2011: approximately 30%) and to strengthen the company's market share in residential construction.
