LEMMINKÄINEN PATENTS FRAME FOR CREATING WINDOW AND DOOR OPENINGS IN CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE WALLS

Lemminkäinen has been granted a patent by the National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland, for a frame and method of creating openings in cast-in-place concrete walls.

Lemminkäinen's patented solution significantly speeds up the creation of door and window openings in cast-in-place concrete walls. Using this method, a frame, which can be formed and removed simply and quickly, is placed in the concrete wall in order to leave an opening for a window or door. The durability and heavy-duty characteristics of the frame reduce material costs and the amount of waste material. The new method ensures very precise openings of high surface quality.

"At the Lappeenranta site, we used six 'opening' forms to create around 100 door openings for large concrete form walls. Once the measurer had marked out the place for the opening, the installation time was around 3-5 minutes. Detaching the form took the same amount of time. The six forms left absolutely no waste. Their parts were so light that one man was able to move them to the next installation place. Despite being used several times, all six forms remain fit for use," says the inventor, site engineer Marko Rahikka of Lemminkäinen.
