LEMMINKÄINEN ACQUIRES A WEATHER FORECAST-BASED CONTROL SYSTEM TO EXPAND ITS PRODUCT RANGE IN THE MAINTENANCE AND UPKEEP OF TECHNICAL BUILDING SERVICES

Lemminkäinen acquires Wisepro Oy's control technology that utilises weather forecast information. Wisepro provides its customers unique weather forecast-based energy-saving systems. The transaction will be carried out by acquiring shares. The parties have agreed that the purchase price will not be disclosed.

Wisepro's control system is a Finnish innovation. Its product suite is the only one of its kind and scale available on the market.  The control system combines information on current property conditions with 6 to 12 hour weather forecasts, and adjusts the automated HVAC control system in accordance with upcoming temperature changes.  Such automation optimises on-property conditions and yields savings of 5 to 20 per cent in total energy consumption costs.

"Wisepro's innovation rounds out our expertise in energy-efficiency services and enhances our range of maintenance and upkeep services. The control system provides us with an excellent opportunity to help our customers to cut the energy consumption of their properties," says Marcus Karsten, Lemminkäinen's Executive Vice President, Technical Building Services.

The system is already available and has received good feedback from its users. In the future, Lemminkäinen will seek to harness the system in all of its business sectors, both in Finland and abroad. The system is ideally suited for lifecycle projects and turnkey contracting projects in technical building systems, for example. In addition, it can be used in new residential construction projects as well as for heated driveways in infrastructure construction.
