Major renovation project for Lemminkäinen in Porvoo

MAJOR RENOVATION PROJECT FOR LEMMINKÄINEN IN PORVOO

Lemminkäinen will modernise 15 residential apartment buildings belonging to three housing cooperatives in the Ala-Näsi district of Porvoo. The work includes pipe rehabilitation and lift construction with a total value of 20 million euros (VAT 0%). The object comprises a total of 640 flats.

The construction of the new lifts is based on a solution designed by Lemminkäinen. Their shafts will be built in front of the staircases, outside of the building frame. The lift integration concept designed by Lemminkäinen is a protected utility model.

"What makes the Porvoo project particularly attractive is the addition of new lifts to existing buildings", comments Director Kalevi Stenman of Lemminkäinen. "The lifts make the everyday lives significantly more comfortable and add value to their flats. Half of the costs are covered by a special state subsidy designated for lift construction projects in old houses – a benefit that more housing cooperatives ought to be aware of."

The pipe rehabilitation of the 388 flats in Asunto Oy Porvoonportti's nine residential buildings is carried out through a project management contract. The subterranean drains and surface water sewers on the premises are being modernised as well. All in all, 12 lifts will be renovated in existing shafts and 35 new lifts with shafts and stair flights will be built for the Asunto Oy Porvoonportti, Asunto Oy Näsinsilta and Asunto Oy Näsinkumpu housing cooperatives.

The buildings undergoing renovation were built in 1967-1975. Talokeskus Oy is acting as development consultant for the project. The renovation project is scheduled to commence in the spring of 2012 and will be completed by spring 2015.
