Lemminkäinen´s apartment block a favourite at the Kokkola Housing Fair

LEMMINKÄINEN'S APARTMENT BLOCK A FAVOURITE AT THE KOKKOLA HOUSING FAIR

Albatrossi, the energy-efficient apartment block constructed by Lemminkäinen, was one of the most popular attractions at the Kokkola Housing Fair. More than half of the visitors to the fair, some 65,000 people, visited the building during the four-week event. The fair, which ended on 14 August, attracted some 128,000 visitors in all.

The five-storey energy-efficient Albatrossi is located in the centre of the fair area, by the sea. Most of its 52 apartments have a sea view thanks to the house being terraced. The building, designed by the architectural agency Arkkitehtuuritoimisto Juha Paldanius Oy, emphasises high quality, functionality, comfort and the safety of apartments, while accommodating the needs of people of different ages. Living in Albatrossi is highly affordable, due to efficient after-heating of incoming air.

New ideas for urban living, created in cooperation with designers Paola Suhonen and Sikke Sumari, added to the attractiveness of Lemminkäinen's apartment block. Inspired by recycling and nature, Paola Suhonen's interior design solutions for the showcase apartment, and Sikke Sumari's herb garden design for the balcony, were praised by visitors.

Interest in Albatrossi apartments was reflected in sales: at the end of the fair, 51 apartments out of 52 were sold. Only 17 of the 131 residential units in the fair area were unsold.

Lemminkäinen is one of Finland's major housing constructors. Last year, the company began to build more than 2,000 new apartments. Almost one thousand residential units developed by Lemminkäinen were sold. Lemminkäinen is also actively developing housing in St. Petersburg, Russia and Sweden.
