LEMMINKÄINEN CORPORATION PRESS RELEASE 17.6.2010, 16:00 LEMMINKÄINEN TO BUILD PRODUCTION FACILITIES FOR RANI PLAST AT LEMMINKÄINEN'S KALUGA INDUSTRIAL PARK On 17 June 2010, Lemminkäinen signed an agreement with Ab Rani Plast Oy, a Finnish-based supplier of packaging materials, on the turnkey construction of a plastic film extrusion plant at Lemminkäinen's Kaluga industrial park in Russia. Rani Plast is the first client in Lemminkäinen's Kaluga industrial park project. The packaging film plant to be constructed for Rani Plast will consist of 5,400 m2 of floor space, located on a 2.3-hectare site. The plant will be completed by the end of 2011. - The EUR 20 million project is a major investment in the future and one of the biggest in Rani Plast's over 50-year history. Our goal is to produce high-quality polyethylene films for Russian converting and packaging industries, as such production does not yet exist to any significant extent in Russia. The long-term goal is to attain the status of the leading films supplier in Russia's fast-growing markets, explains Mikael Ahlbäck, Managing Director, Ab Rani Plast Oy. The groundwork on Lemminkäinen's Kaluga industrial park project was started in late 2007. The park, covering 135 hectares, has space for around 20 production plants and logistics centres. It is located in Vorotynsk, close to the industrial city of Kaluga, approximately 170 km southwest of Moscow. The Kaluga area is a major centre of the automotive and electronics industries. - In line with our strategy, we want to take advantage of the growth in the Russian construction market, says Juha Höyhtyä, Senior Vice President, Lemminkäinen Talo Oy International. - Russia is currently a very interesting growth market. I believe our Kaluga industrial park will offer many Western SMEs a quick, easy and well-functioning solution for investing in Russia. We are sorting out the land- and infrastructure-related issues on behalf of the client, so that the client can focus on the quick realisation of their investment as a Western-style business undertaking.
