Lemminkäinen to build cable tunnel in Sweden

LEMMINKÄINEN TO BUILD CABLE TUNNEL IN SWEDEN

Lemminkäinen has won the bidding competition for the construction of a cable
tunnel in Mörby, a northern suburb of Stockholm. The customer is Svenska
Kraftnät and the contract is worth approx. EUR 10 million. Construction work
will begin at the beginning of 2011, and the cable tunnel will be completed in
summer 2013. 

Lemminkäinen Sverige AB, a subsidiary of Lemminkäinen Infra Oy, will build the
900-metre-long tunnel, which will house current overhead power lines that are
out of keeping with the cityscape. In the years 2003-2006 Lemminkäinen built a
similar 2.4-kilometre-long cable tunnel at Frösunda in the Solna district of
Stockholm. 

- Lemminkäinen has been operating in Sweden, mainly as a railway tunnel
builder, since 1994. Sweden's biggest track project, the Ådalsbana line, will
be completed in autumn 2010, and this new tunnel contract provides good
continuity to Lemminkäinen's operations in Sweden, comments Kari J. Korhonen,
