LEMMINKÄINEN INTRODUCES NEW COATING METHOD FOR PIPING RENOVATIONS WITH MINIMUM
DISRUPTION TO EXISTING STRUCTURES

Lemminkäinen will expand its range of piping renovation methods by adopting a
coating procedure that avoids the demolition of existing structures. In the new
method, the inside of the pipes is coated with a special epoxy resin mixture.
The procedure is suitable for metal water supply and hot water pipes as well as
sewers.

The benefits offered by the method include quick completion and only a short
interruption of the water supply. Residents are not required to move out of the
home for the duration of the renovation project. Another advantage is that any
redone wall and surface structures, for example, remain intact. The company
applying the method is Lemminkäinen Kiinteistötekniikka Oy, formerly Tekmanni
Service Oy.

"Renovations are an important priority in Lemminkäinen Group's new strategy,
along with the continued development of technical building services. As it is,
servicing, maintenance and renovation already account for over one third of
Lemminkäinen's total business", says Marcus Karsten, Executive Vice President
of Lemminkäinen Talotekniikka Oy.

The coating technology selected for renovation was developed by LSE-System AG
of Switzerland, a pioneer in the internal coating of water piping in Europe.
Patented and taken into use already in 1987, the method is currently used in 15
western European countries and the USA. To date, over 600,000 housing units and
thousands of other properties have been renovated using this technology. Its
success is based on extensive research and development cooperation as well as
the skills of qualified pipe fitters. The method has been tested and approved
by several research institutes around the world, including the Technical
Research Centre of Finland VTT.
