Lemminkäinen wins major road contract in Moldova

LEMMINKÄINEN WINS MAJOR ROAD CONTRACT IN MOLDOVA

On 19 January 2009 Lemminkäinen Group's Lemminkäinen Infra Oy signed an
agreement with the Moldovan Road Administration for a sizeable road contract
involving basic improvement works on a 14-kilometre-long section of the highway
between Chişinău, the capital of Moldova, and Hînceşti, a town located some 30
kilometres to the southwest. The contract is being funded by the European
Investment Bank (EIB) and is worth EUR 13.5 million. 

The road section in question is a four-lane highway with a pavement that is
partly asphalt and partly concrete. The contract includes renewal of the
highway's structural and wearing courses, asphalt paving of the concrete road,
repair of the pavement structure on four bridges, as well as painting,
road-marking and safety barrier works. Over 50,000 tonnes of asphalt mix will
be used in the contract. The work will commence this spring and will be
completed towards the end of 2010. 

”This new contract is the latest in a series of World Bank/EU-funded highway
projects that we have carried out in the Baltic states and Ukraine over the
past ten years,” says the Managing Director of Lemminkäinen Infra Oy, Mr.
Henrik Eklund.
