Alliance contracts are becoming more and more common in Finland. The model, originally developed for building North Sea oil platforms, creates benefits for all. In large-scale construction projects, the best results can be achieved by sharing both risks and objectives.

YIT has published a short book (62 pages) titled Bold Builders in Russia - Fifty Years of YIT Construction Projects. The book reviews projects by YIT and its predecessors in the Soviet Union and Russia. The book contains a large number of illustrations.

YIT's housing complex Kima 1 has shared the first place in the "Best housing project" category of the "Best construction quality 2014" competition in Saint-Petersburg. Also YIT's another project, business class housing complex Chapayeva 16 was chosen to a group of winners and was awarded the 1st class diploma.

Finns are active recyclers of empty bottles and old newspapers. Construction waste is also sorted scrupulously, because mixed waste is expensive for construction sites.

When you buy an apartment in a Finnish housing company, you become the shareholder of only your own apartment. The building itself is owned by the housing company. However, the shareholders' rights are ample and well-protected.

This year Housing Fair is held in Jyväskylä's nature embracing neighborhood called Äijälänranta. YIT's apartment building, World Pillar, has 13 floors and it is located right on the coast of Päijänne lake.
